Contemporary Art Engagement

Have you noticed that spending time in a museum makes you calm and focused? Have you often felt that looking at artworks, really looking, ignites a little fire in your brain? That discussing a topic with others gives you a sense of connection and wellbeing?

Then my contemporary art engagement program is for you.

An art engagement program that uses the artworks of our time

Sabine’s sessions will make you wonder, think and look at the world with a fresh perspective. The sessions are centred around the idea of object-based looking: taking time to be with each artwork to let its stories and our reactions unfold. Everybody is given a voice. At the core of my program the belief that art is for everyone, and that witnessing and using creativity can enrich and brighten our lives and increase our sense of wellbeing.

Upcoming Tours

Artist Exhibition Visit - Lucía Pizzani at Frieze No 9 Cork Street

Saturday 5th April, 11.00-12.30

£30 per person
Free for children under 18

Meeting Frieze No 9 Cork Street, W1S 3LL

Join me for an exclusive artist led tour at this two-week exhibition in Frieze’s exciting Cork Street venue: ‘Clay, seeds and other ancestors’. Lucía Pizzani moved to London from Venezuela in 2007, but the influence of South America remains present in all her works. Having studied conservation biology in Venezuela and been involved with an environmental NGO there for many years, Pizzani strongly believes in the connectedness of all living things: plants, animal and human. Pizzani’s work is in the Tate collection and she was chosen for Frieze London’s 2024 curated section ‘Smoke’ showing artists working in ceramics. An exciting outdoor installation of sculptures is currently on view in the historic gardens of Harewood House.

Afterwards we will visit two special galleries in the area.

ART TO MIND Tour - ‘Shape Shift’ at Fitzrovia Chapel

Wednesday 19 March, 3.00-4.30pm

£20*
Free for children under 18

Meeting point: Fitzrovia Chapel, 2 Pearson Square, W1T 3BF (Goodge Street)

This is a tour with a difference! It’s a unique chance to get an exclusive tour from Tim A Shaw, one of the founders of the amazing charity Hospital Rooms, a leading charity in the field of art and health, commissioning emerging and established artists to make art for NHS psychiatric wards throughout the UK. ‘Shape Shift’ tells the stories of artworks from Hospital Rooms’ three-year project at Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich, which commissioned 15 international artists to work with the hospital’s patients and staff, creating major artworks. This exhibition is set at Fitzrovia Chapel, a building where patients, families and staff would once come for calm, respite and sanctuary.

*This tour is part of ART TO MIND - my program of art engagement for mental wellbeing, and priced at a more accessible level. The pace of the tour will be adapted to the group’s needs.

Art Tours

The Art Tours are 2hrs long and take place on site, visiting a museum, a few smaller galleries, or public artworks outside. The sessions are inclusive, fun and engaging. By closely looking at artworks, we will unravel the mysteries and pleasures of art together. The tours will offer a safe space in which you can think, talk and make new connections, and connect with other art lovers.

Art Engagement Sessions

The Engagement sessions are 1 hour long and theme-based. They are brought to you either on Zoom or in the classroom. The theme is attuned to the interests of your audience. An A-level art history class? We will pick a theme that is current in the curriculum and use contemporary artworks to shine a new light on preconceived ideas. An organisation with immigrant learners? We can talk about artworks by immigrant artists and how their rich experiences of being part of different cultures forms the basis and strength of their work. Whatever your interest and needs, my sessions aim to make the art experience relevant for YOU.
